This wiring harness with plug goes into the stock ignition and is housed inside the steering column.
See below for fitment:

STANDARD BUG 1971-74 (1971 from VIN 1112799843 to 1974 VIN 1142358022)
SUPER BEETLE 1971-72 (1971 from VIN 1112799843)
GHIA 1972-74 (1974 Ghia up to VIN # 142358021)
THING 1973-74 to VIN #1842356315

This harness can be used in later models if you splice this plug and harness to the original wiring.
